Dubai has opened the deepest dive pool in the world, joining the tallest building and the largest shopping mall as world records held by the city.
New attraction Deep Dive Dubai features a pool that is 60 meters (196 feet) deep, surpassing the previous record holder, Poland’s Deepspot, which was 45 meters. At least four times larger than any other diving pool in the world, the Deep Dive Dubai pool contains 14 million liters of fresh water (the equivalent of six Olympic-sized swimming pools). On June 27th, 2021, Guinness World Records officially recognized it as the deepest dive pool in the world.

The facility is now invitation-only but will be available to the general public later on in 2022. One of the first guests was the crown prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also an avid scuba diver and tweeted about his visit. The water is kept at a comfortable 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), ideal for swimming in a light wetsuit or a bathing suit.
A submerged metropolis and a film studio
Due to the United Arab Emirates’ status as a significant pearl-diving center, the country’s indoor pool is located within an oyster-shaped building covering 1,500 square meters. However, the underwater metropolis of Deep Dive Dubai is the pool’s true star. Underwater pool tables and “abandoned” city residences await scuba divers in a submerged arcade. The pool’s interior has been outfitted with cutting-edge lighting and sound equipment to provide a range of ambiance. The pool is the largest underwater film studio in the area, so you may use it for more than just swimming. Close by, you’ll find a media editing area that you can use as needed. Divers of all experience levels can find a suitable course at Deep Dive Dubai. After taking a tour with one of the dive guides available at the location, scuba divers can study the pool and the underwater metropolis independently.

Fifty-six cameras have been placed strategically all around the pool to watch over swimmers and divers at all times. In the event of an emergency, it also features the most sophisticated hyperbaric chamber in the region, with room for 12 patients. While Deep Dive Dubai director Jarrod Jablonski acknowledged that there are other deep dive pools worldwide, he praised the uniqueness of Dubai’s offering. “It is the largest and deepest, but the submerged city effect also makes it the new global authority. It’s misleading to refer to all of these features as a “pool.”
Don’t go straight from Deep Dive Dubai to the top of the Burj Khalifa
The diving center also features a café with glass walls and televisions so that friends and family who don’t dive can watch the action from the safety of the solid ground.

As a reminder, Deep Dive Dubai has put a warning on its website for visitors who intend to visit the city’s iconic Burj Khalifa immediately afterward.
The sign warns that anyone who has just gone diving should not go to the top of the building.
“It is advisable to wait 18 to 24 hours after a dive before going higher than 300 meters (1,000 feet). However, you can dive without worrying after seeing the world’s tallest structure.”
